[ There had been talk of timelines and parallel universes and she is just checking. ]

[ A pause.

[ She winces a little remembering how he looked at her when she shut the door on him, but it's fleeting. The Force had not meant for their paths to converge at that point, and no amount of pouring over how she had misinterpreted her vision will ever change that. ]

Great. This is the only time we've ever been on the same page about anything.

[ A small incomprehensible noise at her comment. ]

Don't know about that. It seemed like we were on the same page before my uncle intervened. And in Snoke's throne room when we fought together.

[ He's right, and she sort of hates that he's right. That she felt it too.

She wonders if he can feel the pang of... she's not sure what to call it. Mourning maybe? Whatever it is, it streaks strongly through her, and it shakes her shielding. The memory of both is singed in her mind. During the fight it felt like electricity sparking between them, and afterwards a relief in the realization that despite Snoke's claims that he had connected them it remained after his death.

A relief that was crushed quickly when she fled without him in tow.

It's her turn to take a long pause before she responds, and that itself should be an answer enough. ]

Yeah. I thought so too.

[ Was it not clear what she wanted? The way she just showed up, the way she looked at him in the Turbolift. Whispering to him I'll help you. ]

Apparently not.

[ It hurts.

Because he felt it. In the turbolift, and when they'd force bonded while she'd been with Luke. But the realization that she only wanted him if he went with her, if he was someone else, not as he was ... had hit hard.

There was no going back, not after the things he'd done. He'd gone forward the only way he knew how.

Surely Rey realized that. So his wounds smart, and hers echo to him through the bond. ]

Was there anything else you wanted to speak to me about?

[ Yes. A hundred, a thousand, a million little things she wanted to ask him. She wasn't sure what would be the most satisfying outcome, to scream at him, to fight with him, to grab him, or to just let him go. ]

No.

[ It's a big rig. They'll be able to avoid each other. ]

Right.

[ He types out, slowly. When he's finished he hefts the communicator in his hand for a few moments, breathing deeply.

With a roar of anger, Kylo throws the device against the wall. The screen shatters with a crunch but he'd give anything to have his lightsaber to take to it. ]
