Age: 30+
Other Characters: N/A
Name: Ickis
Canon: Aaahh!!! Real Monsters
Canon Point: End of the series
Age: Unknown. Considered an adolescent monster (equivalent to early to mid teens) but his chronological age is undetermined (I'm going to headcanon that he's around 30 in human years, since they're longer lived than humans and that roughly lines up with the shows awkward timeline).
Backstory: [ x ] (I would like to note that the timeline in this show is all over the place so things like character ages, and dates of certain events are incredibly inconsistent and even the ones stated on the wiki are ultimately fandom headcannon.)
Personality:
Insecure - Ickis' insecurity and self-loathing so deeply define him it practically seeps into every other aspect of his personality, for good or ill. On one hand, it's made him more empathetic and sensitive to other people's problems. But on the other hand, his insecurity and neuroses are intertwined in a horrible feedback loop, it makes him constantly second guess himself and believe that the only way he can get ahead is to take short cuts, and tricks him into thinking that no one outside of his two best friends will really like him unless he acts like a completely different person.
Neurotic - Nervous and persnickety, prone to extreme anxiety, frequent panic attacks, manic episodes, and occasionally has mental shutdowns when he's overstimulated. While it's rarely ever touched on seriously or named outright, it's often insinuated that Ickis has some form of mental health problems, and to say they're going untreated would be an understatement. Mental health isn't something that's taken seriously or treated in monster society. If it gets bad enough you're put in a 'quiet place' away from the rest of society where you're poked and prodded. And that's it. A fate that Ickis has been threatened with a few times, though only once directly, leading to a few times where his friends have had to step in to hide how bad an episode has gotten. So he mostly just tries to downplay it or deny it, but it's impossible to hide for long, and for the most part, he's long since given up hiding it from his friends.
Empathetic - Despite his many flaws, Ickis' most redeeming quality is easily his empathy. While he's not always great at reading people and he can be a bad judge of character, he cares deeply for everyone he's close to and is quick to sympathize with others, particularly outcasts, both monster, and human. Generally the more emotionally supportive and understanding one among his friends (when he's not busy taking his turn at being the jerkass), he's always open to listening to others' problems and trying to help them with them. Which has both landed him an odd assortment of friends and also led to him being easily manipulated by almost anyone who can spin a halfway decent sob story. There have also been times where he helped out characters despite knowing they wouldn't return the favor (or worse, have previously stabbed him in the back), because he couldn't bring himself to just leave them to their fate.
Defiant - Ickis is considered a chronic trouble maker, and with good reason. Bending rules and questioning authority or the status quo are practically casual pastimes for Ickis. Usually, it's more out of curiosity, ignorance or necessity than a true rebellious streak, but he definitely has his mischievous side and a propensity for undermining authority figures behind their backs when he thinks their rules are dumb or unfair. And while it doesn't happen often, he will openly put his foot down if he thinks others will get hurt if he doesn't, or if he just thinks he can get away with it without getting maimed too badly.
Cocky - While the bedrock of Ickis' personality is best described by his friend Oblina as "sweet, innocent and panicky" you can tell just how tired he is of being a nervous wreck and having people perceive him as a fragile cowering pushover. It's palpable. So any opportunity he gets to bite back at someone who's been pushing him around, or slip back into cocky jackass mode, he'll take it and run with it. It never lasts long and to his credit, he does usually try to fix things or apologize if he realizes he screwed up or hurt someone, but it can still be obnoxious to deal with. With how many times his arrogant persona has gotten him in trouble, one would think he would have learned not to lean on it by now but it almost feels like he's addicted to it, in a similar way to how for a short while he was addicted to a superhero persona he came up with, because wearing the costume and having that anonymity was the only time he really felt brave. Similarly, donning his cocky persona seems to be the only time he can fain feeling secure in himself and pretend he doesn't care about consequences. It's a reprieve and a really obnoxious security blanket until he can learn to have some genuine self-esteem. The fact that it's also become heavily tied to his manic episodes doesn't help things.
Curious - Monsters tend to look down on humans, and Ickis isn't immune to this but he's a bit like a monster equivalent of the Little Mermaid. While he doesn't necessarily want to be "part of their world" he's very curious about them and has a fascination with their culture, music, and tech, occasionally dragging trinkets down into the monster world to collect or experiment with. Or he tries to build imitations of them. That alone is frowned upon, to put it lightly, but he also has a habit of interacting with humans as equals, which is forbidden. Monsters are supposed to make sure that humans who've seen them are left never quite sure what they've seen. They also try to minimize any proof of their existence, so that humans don't go back to hunting them.
They're not supposed to sit around chit-chatting with them, asking them questions and telling them things about the monster world. And they're definitely not supposed to befriend them, sneak out onto camping trips with them to help them with a bullying problem, babysit them, or allow themselves to be semi adopted by a blind homeless old blues musician.
Powers/Abilities:
Misc Abilities
Unique to Ickis
In Game Powers
dietary needs - Minus the possibility of turning into a tree if he eats seeds. Though if it's okay, I would like to keep the weakness of him getting temporarily sick from them, and having them grow inside of him for a time. Something that would scare the heck out of him but wouldn't take him completely out of commission.
night vision - Keeping as is.
his unique anatomy - Minus the ability to loom or the possibility of hearing radio waves.
Inventory: Nothing
Game Plans: Kinda gonna be going with the flow of this one. But I do like the idea of him being forced to interact with mostly "humans" who are becoming monsters, and having to deal with the horror of figuring out that the monsters here, are nothing like his own species. As well as slowly becoming more like them.
Monster Choice:
Pooka - As a monster who's already often mistaken for a "cute" little rabbit, he would absolutely hate this! But it does fit him really well, personality-wise, with the Pooka's mischievous nature and vacillating luck.
Kamaitachi - They have that whole cute but creepy vibe that would fit well for Ickis, and I kinda like the idea of an already excitable and easily agitated character getting even worse during storms.
Draugr - Ickis has always wanted to be more horrific, and getting stuck with this would be the equivalent of having that wish granted on a monkey's paw.
Vehicle Choice: Stupid little bug cart. It's quality is speed.
Sample: We would like 5 comments in a single thread, from the TDM showing your character voice, please!

Powers/Abilities:
Misc Abilities
Good at sneaking around and is surprisingly fast. Can be a decent leader in a pinch. Can pull a Kevin Mccallister and set up 'Home Alone' style traps on the fly. Can recreate some human tech (for instance, an old 90's tv set) from scraps/garbage. Good at surfing, baseball, puzzle-solving, dancing, and can play a mean harmonica.
Monster Anatomy/Powersdurability - Monsters are quite a bit more durable than your average human. Their bodies have a kind of elasticity that allows them to both squeeze through tight spots (he's been shown being able to fit through a sink faucet), and handle damage better, particularly from falls or being compressed. They can still get hurt (for insistence, Ickis broke his foot after having it run over by a car) and healing still seems to take about the same amount of time it would take a human to heal from a similar injury, hurting them just takes a little bit more doing when it comes to blunt force.
fusion - Monsters also have the weird ability to be fused into one another and turned into a single being; though with all personalities still intact. They don't become a completely separate person just a multi-headed/multi-limbed abomination that can barely coordinate well enough to move.
dietary needs - Monsters evolved specifically to best survive in whatever environment they happen to inhabit, so while some are born to thrive out in nature, Ickis is a city monster. Meaning he's specifically equipped to survive and stay hidden in that environment, traveling through sewers, living underground and in the dump, while living off human refuse. With the exception of insects he mostly eats inorganic materials (this can include some metals meaning he has one heck of a bite) or things that are rotting or spoiled. Most "human food" can make him seriously ill or at the very least cause odd side effects. And things like seeds and fresh vegetation can start growing inside of him turning him into a tree monster or will likewise make him sick.
breathing - His body also requires him to breathe in what would be considered noxious/toxic air. A potential benefit of this, outside of him thriving in toxic environments, is that to some extent they filter the air and make it (even if only minimally) less hazardous to others. The downside is that, while he can survive without it for a few days by filling up an "air sack" beforehand, he can eventually end up suffocating without it. Perfume and air freshening products can also have an adverse effect on his breathing and eventually suffocate him.
fear incarnate - The biggest downside to being a monster is that they're the physical embodiment of human fears, so if humans stop being afraid of them they stop existing. Either blinking out of existence or slowly disappearing piece by piece in a suitably horrific fashion.
night vision - Something that is more heavily alluded to than outright stated. They're in the dark of sewers, and pipes, and the unlit underground of the dump most of the time, and get around perfectly fine. Still, tend to prefer having some amount of light to see by when in their rooms or to read with, but they don't seem to necessarily need it.
easily hypnotized - As a general rule, they're very susceptible to hypnotism, but in particular, for some reason,n lava lamps can hypnotize them or put them in a lulled state.
nightmares - By sticking his finger/s into the ear of a sleeping human, he can give them nightmares. He can't actually see into their mind or know exactly what they're dreaming, all he really does is implant suggestions and hope they take root. When done right, he can turn their dreams into nightmares he has some control over, when done wrong, it might just make their dreams better. When done really wrong he can end up getting sucked into their head and controlling their mind/body (which sounds cool until you factor in how hard it is to get back out again).

Unique to Ickis
anatomy - Things that were unique about Ickis' physiology compared to other monsters were his 'rabbit ears', which he claimed were unfortunately sensitive enough to occasionally pick up snippets of radio if he wasn't careful, short magenta fur, as well as his retractable fangs and claws, and glowing eyes that can fill with blood when he's angry or when he looms.
looming - As a Loomer Ickis is capable of growing up to several stories tall for short bursts of time, usually between 10 seconds to a few minutes, though he's gotten stuck in a loom before so that's apparently also possible. When he does this his eyes fill up with "blood" turning them red, his retractable fangs drop and his body inflates. Usually, he can only loom up to 7 or 8 feet tall, and the few times we see him get up to several stories it was always under extreme duress, at one point only being capable of doing it in order to save someone. It takes effort, and how much effort depends on how large he's looming, how long he's holding it and how many times he's already done it. Doing it too many times in a row or pulling a loom larger than his average 7 or 8 feet can leave him exhausted.
It's also something he needs to work at regularly in order to keep doing it well. The longer he goes without exercising this ability the harder it will be for him to pull it off the next time he needs it.
