Got it in one. Like they said, not worth the financial strain.
[Yeah, she'd figured that, for all their talk, they'd be horrified. She glances away at Catra's reaction, mistakingly figuring it for a flinch away, but-
There's still an embrace. And the light of She-Ra. Just for her, this time. A part of her wants to be cruel, cutting, demand why Adora hadn't done this earlier, for her and Setsuna. But the answer's simple. Adora didn't know she could, not until Rose went after Catra.
Sitting on the ground, held by Catra, and nose-to-thigh with the second mightiest blonde she knows, she kinda feels better already.
Tenten holds Catra with her good arm. Her bad, though, reaches up to She-Ra. She doesn't quite succeed at keeping the hopeful expression off of her face, or at least the half that isn't a cruel mockery of one.]
[ Adora watches them both, her brow furrowed, expression set and grim. Then she slowly kneels and reaches out to take Tenten's hand and then her forearm. Her bright blue eyes close and she concentrates on feeling the magic run out of her and into Tenten, willing it to help. To do something. To ease her friend's pain.
There's a pit in her stomach when she thinks about it failing.
She tries anyway, because it's what she does. She pushes and she pushes and there's a glow that surrounds them both now, growing and growing- ]
[Tenten knows when to shut up, at least. She's not one of those people who spout random witticisms just to break the silence that she finds so dreadfully uncomfortable. Her tongue flicks out over her lower lip in a nervous gesture, from ruin to smoothness.
She closes her eye, the light getting too bright, and grinds her teeth together. The tingling is-pins and needles. Crawling up her arm. It's hard for her not to push back, try to resist the (not at all unpleasant) magic flowing through her with her own, but her chakra, despite its starborn nature, wasn't the equal to She-Ra's. And what she was feeling was nerves waking up, regenerating just slightly as a new layer of skin took hold, growing along the quarter of her body that Rose Tattoo had taken and hung Setsuna with.
And, like that, the job's done. The tingling fades, but Tenten's not opening her eye. With two sets of eyelids, there might be the illusion that she should be seeing out of both eyes, but the left one is still slightly sunken in, nothing present. Her fingers spasm a little, tightening on She-Ra's hand, but frankly-well.
She's afraid to open her eyes. She wants to cling to that hope of success for just a moment longer before verifying that, yes, she's fine now. Mostly.]
[ Adora slumps as she finishes, feeling drained and exhausted and like she wants to go take a long nap and there's a cascade of light as She-Ra fades away and it's just her again. But there's a determined, wide smile on her face all the same. She doesn't know if she could've fixed the eye of they were home - a part of her thinks so - but this is good. This is enough. ]
Tenten!
[ And she throws her arms around her with a laugh. ]
[ Catra sits back while Adora does her thing. She keeps one hand wrapped in Tenten's. It feels like she waits an age for the glow to fade, to see just what She-Ra can manage. There's a gasp and a happy burst of laughter to match Adora's. She throws her arms around them both with a beaming grin. ]
It worked! I knew you could do it, Adora!
[ She presses a celebratory kiss to first Adora's cheek and then to Tenten's. ]
[Adora might slump, but there's one person who won't allow her to fall. Tenten's got her arms clasped tight around the other girl's waist, her face mashed against her stomach. Her fingers dig in to the back of Adora's jacket. She's still on her knees and doesn't quite seem interested in moving at the moment, despite the cheerful noises around her.
Ignore how her shoulders are quivering. Shinobi, after all, don't show their tears.]
[ Catra, despite all her progress, still isn't really the best at knowing how to handle this kind of thing. She does her best though. Her arm wraps tight around Tenten and she gives a soothing stroke before her fingers find their way into the shinobi's hair. She scratches gently at Tenten's scalp. ]
